1935B British Trade Dollar in Mavin Auction

An extremely rare 1935B British Trade Dollar offered by Mavin International in their upcoming Auction 39, World Coins and Banknotes on 25 March 2015, at the Concorde Hotel Singapore. One of the Auction highlight is a key dates of the British Trade Dollar coin is graded NGC AU Details with excessive surface hairlines.

1935B

According to obsoletecoin.com, the British Trade Dollar 1934B and 1935B dollars were struck and shipped to Hong Kong. They were deposited in the vaults of a Hong kong Bank as security against the dollar banknotes introduced in Hong Kong in 1935. Only few pieces of 1934B and 1935B dollars were released. The reminder of the 1934B and 1935B dollars were returned to the Mint for melting before World War II. The lot 867 coin is estimate to sell for SGD10,000 – SGD11,000.
